The Go-Giver, By: Bob Burg and John David Mann


In their book The Go Giver, Burg and Mann utilize a fable about a young go-getter who is struggling in his profession to deliver a powerful business idea.  Each week the main character, Joe, learns one of the “Five Laws of Stratospheric Success.”  More importantly though, not only is Joe exposed to a new law every Friday, he also implements them into his life turning practice into habit.  The foundation of the story relies on the belief that it is more important to add value to someone than to consider what they can do for you.  Burg and Mann display how blind ambition can only take someone so far.  To achieve the “stratospheric success” consideration must be given to how connections can be established and maintained.  If you find yourself struggling like Joe in your relationships, your business or your life, pick up a copy of this great book today.  But remember as you read it, part of Pindar’s deal is that you must implement what you learn!

    • LOVED this book, Jodee, thank you so much for bringing it to our atettnion. It was a very quick read and yet full of so much wisdom. I would be very open to exploring the five principles further. Part of the reason I was so excited about it as I read, is that I believe we have put many of them into play and feel we are on the right path… It would be fun to take each one as a ‘homework’ assignment for that day or week as he did in the book. Do you want to be an accountability buddy?

  • As I read The Go-Givers I kept replacing Joe with my name because I thought Bob Burg and John David Mann were talking about me.

    Like Joe, I had found myself in his situation – behind on sales at the end of the quarter, desperately trying to land that one deal to put him back on track.

    What I didn’t have was Pindar, the legendary consultant to take me under his wings.

    Fortunately, by reading the Go-Givers, I found out the power of being a Go-Giver instead of just being a go-getter.

    I have been using the power of giving for years and the Go-Givers has now given me the Five Laws of Stratospheric Success that will take the power of giving to a new level.

    By focusing on giving and putting others’ interests first by continually adding value to the lives of others I am now achieving higher returns and you will to.
