This month I published my first book titled Stepping Up to an On Purpose Life! Overcoming life-changing events and the obstacles they create to live the life you desire on Outskirts Press. It is available on Amazon.com as well as BarnesandNoble.com
So why did I write the book?
Over the past eighteen months I spoke to thousands of people about life changing events. At first, I would meet someone at a networking event and they would invite me to meet for coffee so we could get to know each other. This would eventually lead them to ask me about my story. Soon I was being asked to tell my story to groups and organizations around the greater Denver area, which in turn lead to guest spots on internet and local radio.
When someone would ask me how I did it, I’d tell them about the system I put together for myself. That would lead to “Where can I get your book?” and I’d reply “I don’t have one.” It seemed like everywhere I went I met people who would tell me about their struggles and challenges. It didn’t matter their background, age, race, or education, we all were dealing with the same obstacles, feelings and emotions. And like me, they didn’t have a clue about how to get out of the mess they had gotten themselves into. They couldn’t find a book, seminar, or anything that would give them all of the tools, guidance, and resources to bounce back to a higher level of success than they’ve ever had.
During a three and a half year period, I went through sixteen life changing events (give or take a few, it depends on what you personally consider to be a life changing event) including; the loss of my dad to Cancer, an ATV accident in Mexico (which lead to eight surgeries), over a year of physical therapy, emergency surgery for an infection (that required a pick-line to be inserted through my bicep into my chest that I would hook up to a pump and IV I wore for six weeks). I got divorced, lost my job, my home, my savings, a vacation spot in Mexico, and the toys. I became addicted to Percocet, ballooned up to 270 pounds, and let’s just say I lost a lot of money.
Before I could help anyone else I needed to work on myself so I spent the past few years doing the research; attending the workshops, seminars and webinars, reading the books, listening to the audios and watching the videos from every expert I could find in the areas I needed help in. Once I applied these lessons myself I tried them out on a test market (who I refer to as my guinea-pig friends) to see if it helped them. Then and only then was I prepared to bring it to the public.
The steps in this book are not easy. I want to be upfront about that. They require accountability, commitment and self-discipline. They will require you to take responsibility for where you are in your life right now, which may not be easy. You will need to get out of your comfort zone and do the things you don’t want to do. And, it takes patience. The results will only be seen after a lot of work on a consistent basis over time.
If you’ve tried to make the changes to your life and haven’t achieved the results you’ve wanted and are ready to change your life, follow the steps in this book, have a strong enough “Why”, and you too can overcome the obstacles that result from life changing events to live your life of purpose.
My goal in writing this book is to share my experience and to help you shorten your learning curve. This book will give you the tools, guidance, and resources you need to reach the level of success you desire.
I hope you find your purpose in life.
